Our brand Tren
Our company, Textil El Amazonas, was founded in 1943 by brothers Santiago and Gian Flavio Gerbolini, who began by exporting raw Peruvian Pima cotton yarn to European markets. A few years later they created the brand Tren to market dyed yarn in ideal formats for handicrafts. Over time, our company experienced significant growth and we expanded into the production of sewing threads, with a particular focus on cotton.
With globalization and changes in the textile industry, we adapted to the increasing production of synthetic fibers, such as polyester. The composition of our production changed, with a higher proportion of polyester threads compared to cotton threads.
Starting in 2018, we began our Sustainability projects, as we recognized the importance of having responsible business practices, as well as a deep awareness of our impact on the environment. This new vision was reflected in the change of the corporate name to Textil El Amazonas SA BIC in 2021 and then in 2023 we achieved certification as a B Company, evidence of our commitment to the principles of sustainability, social responsibility and transparency in our operations.
This journey reflects our ability to adapt and evolve in the face of changing market challenges, as well as our commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility. We now seek to expand our operations, exploring opportunities in the global market and strengthening our responsibility to the well-being of local communities and the environment. With a legacy of more than 80 years of excellence and a firm commitment to the future, we will continue to advance towards a more sustainable and equitable world.
